BC Boys Choir

Charming, fun, entertaining music by polished young men. Their belief that art and music draw us together rather than separate us is evident at every concert.

The British Columbia Boys Choir is a four-part, non-liturgical boys choir, one of the few in North America. Over its 39 year history the BCBC has trained over 850 members who have represented Canada on 26 international tours, performing a demanding repertoire spanning centuries, from Gregorian chant to contemporary works. In addition to frequent radio and television appearances, the Choir has made over 20 recordings and a one-hour documentary film “Summer Song” was produced by the CBC, profiling the Choir’s 10th tour to The Netherlands. The Choir currently has five CDs on the market: Home (released Feb 06); Gloria (2003) Places, (2002) Symmetry (2000); Spirit (1998).

Touring Program:The British Columbia Boys Choir performs a wide variety of choral repertoire from Gregorian chant to 20th-century works that they have commissioned. An audience might hear a Mass by Haydn, an English Folksong, an African Tribal Song with drum, and a rousing Spiritual! The Choir sings in as many as 10 languages, and through their introductions, shares with the audience why they are performing the music. Through its extensive touring the Choir has collected music and memories from across Canada and around the globe. The title of their CD Places is music collected while touring in other countries while their latest CD entitled HOME is music performed around the globe by Canadian composers and arrangers.
