Natalie Choquette is a coloratura soprano unlike any other. For the past 20 years, this multilingual Canadian has merged opera and theatre in uniquely humourous ways, drawing wide audiences to the world of classical arias through her creation on stage of gleefully extravagant divas. Indeed, the singer brings a whole new meaning to the word "diva", using laughter to aid in the exploration of the music itself, while losing none of the power, emotion and brilliance of opera in the process.
Ms. Choquette studied singing in Moscow and Montreal, and currently has a prestigious international career. More than two million people the world over have enjoyed her beautiful voice and contagious sense of fun. Her recent creations include Diva by Night, which premiered at the Opera de Nice in 2013, and La Diva Malbouffa, a musical show for children that promotes healthy eating habits. Performed more than 500 times to young audiences in Canada, France and Russia, the show has been so enthusiastically received, the artist was inspired to create an equally imaginative sequel: La Diva Malbouffa 2 - Kakophonia. She continues to tour extensively, with numerous concerts and shows on her schedule.
Her discography includes more than a dozen albums and DVDs. She is also the author of Mademoiselle Myrtille, her first children's book, published in French by Les Aditions Dominique et Compagnie. The book is accompanied by a CD that narrates the story and features a delightful repertoire of traditional French songs; it was recorded with Natalie Choquette's daughters l onore and Ariane Lagac under the stage name The Cholalas. The engaging tale, beautifully illustrated by Louise Catherine Bergeron, received a special award for its originality and rich vocabulary at the 2013 Montreal Book Fair. The author is now writing a second book-with-CD, designed to take children on a musical adventure as they read along and listen.
A creative powerhouse, Natalie Choquette is always working on new projects in which opera meets a joyful, eclectic universe. This unique soprano from Montreal is thrilled to share her love of music through a diversity of shows performed for widely ranging audiences and age groups, and frequently collaborates with orchestras, choirs and chamber music ensembles.

CHILDREN'S TOURING SHOW - with Piano
La Diva Malbouffa: Children are loving Opera after seeing Mimi, la Diva Malbouffa, and Maestro Figaro. They are on their way to the Grand Opera Gala, where she will sing a duet with her good friend, the famous opera star, DJ Rico the Organic Chicken. Mimi shares her passion for opera (and French fries) with the audience, and explains its origins and characteristics by comparing it to a musical bedtime story. However, greedy Mimi's weak spot for junk food turns into a drama when, after stuffing herself with fries, burgers, cola and ice cream, she starts suffering from indigestion, and loses her voice. This fun-filled performance for children ages 7-13 will thrill and engage them with music, humour, and fantastic costumes and props.
