“Natalie Choquette breathes new life into opera for those of us she already love it and for those who are introduced to it by La Diva, any notion of it being banished forever. Viva La Diva!

The Royal Gazette

“European audiences didn’t have any expectations about Natalie Choquette, but she turned out to be the star of the giant Night of the Promos tour.”

Jan Vereecke

“Natalie Choquette has a rich, honeyed voice, a sense of style that is in a class of its own, and an inimitable comedic gift.”

The Royal Gazette

“La Diva holds the spotlight with every grand entrance onto the stage. The audience wanted still more and after her encore they gave her a well-deserved standing ovation for her jam packed show.”

Natalie Choquette

Diva Extraordinaire

Her magnificent voice and singular humour …make her an artist of international stature, praised and applauded by all audiences around the world.

Born in Tokyo to diplomat parents, Natalie Choquette is a soprano like no other —  magnificent voice that takes us under the skin of comically over-the-top divas, brilliantly blending opera and humour, laughter and emotion. In 1993 she decided to infuse her opera singing with her tremendous sense of humour. The formula proved to be magical and her first comic diva character, La Fettucini, garnered praise from critics and audiences alike. In 2002, La Diva taped a new show for television, La Diva et le Maestro, with the Montreal Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Charles Dutoit that was broadcast throughout Canada, Europe and Asia.

Natalie Choquette has performed around the globe with engagements on four continents, notably in France during six weeks at the Théâtre L’Européen in Paris. Natalie continues to delight fans around the world performing in Saudi Arabia and in Vietnam as part of the Sommet de la francophonie, as well as in the United States and in Latin American countries.

In 2004, Natalie recorded her 10th CD entitled Æterna, and in 2005 Æterna Romantica, a CD of great romantic classics of all times was released. Both Aeterna CDs won the Felix for Best Classical Album at the ADISQ Gala. The third CD of the Æterna trilogy, Æterna Celesta, was launched in fall 2006. It should be noted that Æterna projects, both CDs and shows, support the Quebec Cancer Foundation of which Natalie Choquette is spokesperson. The Æterna project has so far donated $20,000 to the Foundation with over 50,000 CDs sold. In 2006 – 2007, Natalie has toured her Æterna show, performing in more than 40 communities with local choral societies.

In the spring of 2006, Natalie launched a new DVD, La Diva, which includes, in addition to the entire live production of La Diva et le Maestro, the brand-new “Vox Divina” video excerpt from the recent album Æterna Romantica, the multiple award-winning short film Fata Morgana, as well as a compilation of the show’s highlights.
